The goal of any wedding reception is to celebrate and to have loads of fun, and what better way to do that than by getting a full dance floor? What better way to get a full dance floor than by having us here at Special Event Proz play a few group or line dance tunes at your wedding reception (or just having us onboard to do the reception period)? Of course, if you’re not in our service area, you can ask any DJ to play these tunes for you and it should help keep the party moving forward.
While there are several great line dance songs out there, and this list is not meant to be a complete one, we’d thought we’d throw a list together of some of our favs. So, without further delay, here are our top Five Favorite Line/Group Dance tunes:
- Electric Boogie:
This is one of the most iconic line dance or group dance tunes out there. Anyone who has danced in the last 30 or 40 years knows the song. It’s a great tune to warm up the crowd with, and it will appeal to multiple generations. Released in 1980 Marcia Griffith won the Best Original Recording of that year. It was on her album Carousel. Not sure how to do the Electric Slide…the dance most associated with it? See the video below:
- Cupid Shuffle (Cupid)
If you’re looking for something little funky, you definitely should include Cupid Shuffle. It’s relatively easy, the beat is captivating, and it keeps grandma on the dance floor after you’ve finished the Electric Slide. Released in 2007 on the Album, “Time for Change”, but Cupid. Learn how to do the Cupid Shuffle by watching the video below:
- Cha-Cha slide (DJ Casper)
While some may say it’s played out, we still think it important to include the Cha-Cha slide on our top five. Why? Because your wedding reception isn’t going to just be one generation of people or filled with people who realize it might be played out. This tune came out in the year 2000…which is twenty years ago. It is definitely going to be someone’s jam, and it’s going to keep the dance floor hopping. As a result, we still include it in our Top five. Check out the video on how to do the Cha Cha Slide below:
- The Twist (Chubby Checker)
Speaking of multigenerational, The Twist probably will get your great-grandma out on the floor. Either way, it’s a fun thing to do and just about anyone can do it…including little kids. While more of a group dance than a line dance, it still fits in this list ever so perfectly. Not sure how to do a proper twist? Check the vid:
- The Git Up (Blanco Brown)
Rounding out the list is the newest trend and tune that you probably already hear. It can seen everywhere from tik tok to Facebook. Released in 2019, The Git up is a fun tune, and it gets lots of folks engaged on the Dance floor. Since it has a country flair, it also appeals to multiple tastes. Great tune for lots of fun. Check out the “Git Up” tutorial from Blanco Brown himself
